FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHERE WILL MY SESSION BE HELD?
Due to high overhead costs, I do not have a studio for portrait sessions. All portrait sessions will be scheduled to take place either at your home or at another location of your choosing, such as a garden, park, or beach. At your session we will use as much natural light as possible. Natural light is much more flattering and tends to bring out the true spirit of the subject being photographed. Locations outside a 45-mile radius of Fulton, NY are subject to a travel fee.
WHAT TIME WILL MY SESSION BE HELD?
Because we will be using mostly natural light, the time of the session is very important. Indoor sessions are best held at a time when a good deal of light enters through the windows. Outdoor sessions are best scheduled early mornings or late afternoons/evenings. I try to avoid midday sessions when everyone tends to get hot, sweaty, and miserable, but if that's the best time for you we will make it work! Please note that an outdoor session may need to be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather or excessive heat. A typical portrait session can be expected to last 1-2 hours.
WHAT IS THE SESSION FEE?
Payment of the Session Fee secures your session date on my calendar, and also locks in pricing from any increases. It covers the time I spend preparing for your session, the session itself, and the processing of your images. The Session Fee is non-refundable, but it may be transferred to another date should you need to reschedule your session.
SOMETHING CAME UP. CAN I CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE MY SESSION?
Your $150 Session Fee is non-refundable. However, your session can be rescheduled with 24 hours notice. If you are late for our appointment please give me a call. My number is listed on my website and on your confirmation email. No-shows will forfeit their Session Fee.
IS IT OK IF I TAKE SOME PICTURES AT THE SESSION MYSELF?
I ask that there be no other cameras or recording devices, including cell phone cameras, used at the portrait session.
When will i be able to see my pictures?
Your password-protected online gallery will be available for you to view approximately three weeks after your portrait session. At that time I will send you a link to the gallery as well as instructions for placing your order.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept payments by cash, as well as by credit cards via PayPal or Square.
Do you charge sales tax?
Yes, I apply 8.0% New York State sales tax to all orders. A copy of my Certificate of Authority is available upon request.
When will I receive my order?
Prints should be delivered to you approximately two weeks after payment has been received. Other items, such as photo books and announcements, will take a bit longer. I will provide you with a delivery estimate upon receipt of your order.
I know you took more pictures than just the ones in my gallery. Can I see the other ones?
The images selected for your gallery are carefully chosen by me and are the ones I consider to be the best both artistically and technically. Other images may have had problems such as closed eyes or a turned head, or the shot just may not have "worked" for me. All of these additional images are deleted from my archives and are therefore not available to be viewed.
Can I use the images you post online or the ones in my gallery for my Facebook page or other social media?
First, the legal answer: It is illegal to download or take a screen shot of online proofs or online images featured on the Jen Marriner Photography website, Facebook page, or any other source. It is also illegal to make copies from prints, or to sell or alter images received in digital or print format. All images remain copyright and property of Jen Marriner Photography. However, if there is an image that you would like to use online, please contact me. In some cases I can create a web-sized version for your use. This version would have my logo prominently displayed on the image, and I would ask that the logo not be altered or cropped out. I would also ask that you include a link to my website if you display the image online. Of course, if you have purchased digital files you may use those images for any personal use, including social media.
Is there anything else I should know?
All clients will be asked to sign a model release. Those under 18 years of age will need a parent or guardian to sign for them. This model release gives me permission to display your images on my website, Facebook page and other social media, and in any advertising I may do. Because so much of my business is dependent upon potential clients seeing the past work I have done, it is vital that I have this model release on file so that I may use your images. In appreciation for this consideration, the standard Session Fee shown on my website and quoted to clients is a discounted rate ($50 off) with the assumption that a model release will be signed. However, should you not wish to sign a model release or have your images displayed, the full Session Fee rate of $200.00 will apply.
